Potato- Onion Curry -the Tamil Way



Boiled potato -onion curry........the Tamil way.
Simple & easy to make.


Ingredients


potatoes - 4 medium sized

onion - 1 large, finely sliced, green chilli - 1, chopped
turmeric - 1/4 tsp
chilli powder - 1/2 powder

asafoetida ( hing ) - a pinch
salt to taste

oil - 2 tbsp

mustard - 1/2 tsp

urad dal - 1/2 tsp
chopped coriander - 1 tbsp


Method


1. Boil the potatoes in the pressure cooker.. Cut the potatoes into 2 & place in the cooker with a little water & give 3 whistles. Open the cooker after the pressure releases. Cool slightly & remove the peel. Chop roughly & keep aside.
2. Heat the oil in the kadhai, add the mustard & let them splutter. Now add the urad dal & the hing & stir for a minute. Immediately add the onions & green chilli & stir them gently until onions start browning at the edges. Immediately add the potatoes & the seasonings, turmeric & salt. Cook for 8- 10 minutes, on slow flame, stirring them once in a while.
3. Add the chilli powder & fry for another 4-5 minutes .
4. Remove from fire &,top with chopped coriander & serve hot.
