This is the kind of dish I like to make when i am in a rush or the pantry supplies are running a bit low.But that does not take away from the fact that it is a super yummy dish!
Also the fact that it requires minimum ingredients and even less effort but still delicious, makes it a easy favourite for all the young people on the move.

Ingredients
10-15 small onions, diced into 4 and petals separated ( if the onions are big, dice them into cubes)
haldi - 1/4 tsp
chilli powder - 1/2 -1 tsp
dhania powder 1 tsp
jeera powder 1/2 tsp
garam masala 1/4 tsp
puree of 1 tomato or 1/4 tsp anchor powder
cream or dudh ka malai - 2 Tbsp
salt to taste
For the tadka-
3 - 4 tsp oil
1/4 tsp hing
jeera 1/2 tsp
mustard 1/2 tsp
bay leaves 2
elaichi 2-3
green chillies 2-3 finely chopped
1/2 tsp grated or crushed ginger
Method
- Heat the oil. Add mustard and allow to splutter.Then immediately add the hing, jeera, bay leaves, whole elaichi, green chillies and grated ginger. fry fo1/2 a min.
- Add the onions and cook on medium flame for 3-4 mins.
- Add the tomato puree if you using the tomato.Cook for a couple of mins.
- Add the masalas - haldi, dhania and jeera powder, chilli powder, garam masala, amchoor and salt and saute on high flame for a couple of mins.
- Add the cream. Crush the kasoori methi between your palms to release the aroma and add to the subzi and cook for another minute.
- The Malaiwali Pyaaz ki Subzi ready to be served.
It’s great accompaniment to Dal- Chawal, Phulkas, Paranthas…whatever..
Also, if you are missing one or two spices don’t worry about it. It will still taste superb.
